It all started when...
We began cloth diapering both of our babies after our son Evan was born and we realized that disposable diaper costs were over $100 every 3 weeks for him and his one year old sister Sofia! Ryan and I were also unhappy with the environmental impact of disposable diapers. We wondered if there was something better, and we soon found that there was!
However, when we began researching cloth diapers, the choices were overwhelming, and there were no local retailers or comprehensive resources for cloth diapering information. We spent considerable time combing through websites and ordering cloth diapers online. With Sofia and Evan as our subjects, we experimented with MANY products, and amassed a shamefully large collection of cloth diapers!

Having accumulated this knowledge, we wanted to make it easy for other parents to learn about the wonderful benefits of cloth diapering. We were excited enough to create a local business to help fellow eco-aware and financially savvy parents. From this Diaper Lab was born!
In March 2008, Diaper Lab began as a home-based business offering personal diapering consultations and retail sales to Boston-area families. Responding to strong demand the business grew, and in June 2008 we moved to our first retail location inside a local baby boutique. We moved again in October 2008 when we expanded into our very own retail location on Highland Avenue in Somerville. With the largest retail selection of cloth diapers in the Greater Boston area, Diaper Lab offers easy access to many of the top cloth diaper brands. For those outside of Massachusetts, we offer the same great products via our online shopping cart.
Diaper Lab continues to provide scheduled consultations where Boston-area families come in and learn about cloth diapering, feel the fabrics, and try the diapers on their babies through our Experiment to Own program. This allows parents to choose what works best for their family’s lifestyle and to find the best products for their baby. Diaper Lab also offers a free Introduction to Cloth Diapering workshop for all interested parents and families.
Diaper Lab has continued to grow and expand their selection of diapers, as well as adding new products such as baby slings and carriers! We have had an incredible response from our community, and think the exciting world of cloth diapers will continue to grow as more families recognize their wonderful benefits.
