“Baby wearing” has long been practiced in many cultures around the world, and research has shown that “worn” babies are happier and learn more quickly. The Mei Tai is a traditional Asian baby carrier that allows you to carry the baby in the front, on the back, or on the hip. Its wide straps and even distribution of weight across the back make it very comfortable.

The Mei Tai pattern features a unique internal “X-harness” for extra safety and back support for the baby. There's no hardware or uncomfortable metal rings that pinch. Just pure, flannel-lined cotton. The flip-up head support doubles as a nursing shield. Also included is an optional pocket that doubles as a stuff sack for storage of the Mei Tai when not in use.

The pattern includes instructions, full-sized pattern pieces and is suitable for advanced beginners to intermediate sewers.
